AWS has launched LocalStack integration in Visual Studio Code (VS Code) to simplify local testing and development of serverless applications.
- Enables developers to emulate AWS services like Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, and DynamoDB locally
- Allows connection to LocalStack environment directly from VS Code without manual configuration
- Provides easy testing and debugging of Lambda functions within the IDE
- Integration is available in AWS Toolkit for VS Code (v3.74.0 or later)
- No additional cost from AWS for using the integration
The new feature streamlines serverless application development by eliminating complex setup and tool-switching, making local testing more efficient for developers.
