Amazon RDS Proxy announces support for end-to-end IAM authentication
News
Amazon RDS Proxy now supports end-to-end IAM authentication for Amazon Aurora and RDS database instances, offering several key benefits:
- Simplifies credential management without needing to store credentials in Secrets Manager
- Reduces credential rotation overhead
- Leverages IAM's robust authentication and authorization capabilities
- Available for MySQL and PostgreSQL database engines in all RDS Proxy regions
- Helps improve application scalability, resiliency, and security
The feature enables applications, especially serverless architectures, to efficiently manage database connections by pooling and sharing connections, preventing resource exhaustion.
