Amazon OpenSearch Service announces Derived Source for storage optimization
News
Amazon OpenSearch Service introduces Derived Source, a new feature designed to optimize storage for OpenSearch domains.
- Allows skipping storage of source fields and dynamically deriving them when needed
- Reduces storage consumption by not storing the entire \_source field
- Can reconstruct documents dynamically during search, get, reindex, or update operations
- Available in all regions supporting OpenSearch 3.1
- Opt-in feature that can be enabled during index creation
This feature helps organizations optimize storage resources by providing a more efficient way to manage document metadata in OpenSearch Service.
