CBC/Radio-Canada documents video authenticity with Content Credentials on AWS

Media Blog

CBC/Radio-Canada collaborated with AWS to develop a solution for documenting video authenticity using Content Credentials (C2PA), addressing the rising threat of deepfakes and media misinformation.

  • Developed an AWS solution to add C2PA manifests to fragmented MP4 (fMP4) videos
  • Uses a dual compute strategy with AWS Lambda and AWS Fargate for processing
  • Provides an AWS Amplify frontend for uploading, managing, and validating digital assets
  • Supports adding metadata to images and videos, tracking editing actions
  • Includes a custom DASH video player that validates Content Credentials during playback

The solution helps CBC/Radio-Canada maintain public trust by providing a method to verify the authenticity and provenance of digital media content.
