News

Amazon Location Service has updated its mapping data to reflect Vietnam's recent administrative restructuring, which involves significant changes to the country's provinces and administrative boundaries.

  • Provinces reduced from 63 to 34 administrative units
  • New structure includes 28 provinces and 6 centrally managed cities
  • Commune-level administrative boundaries consolidated from 10,310 to 3,321 units
  • Updates include changes to administrative boundaries, names, and hierarchical structure
  • Place names and Points of Interest (POI) have been refreshed

The update supports critical use cases in logistics, e-commerce, and public services by providing accurate administrative boundary data for operations like delivery zone planning and address validation.
