
    Amazon RDS now supports the latest GDR and Cumulative Update patches for Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022, addressing several critical security vulnerabilities.

Amazon RDS now supports the latest Cumulative Update (CU) and General Distribution Release (GDR) updates for Microsoft SQL Server across multiple versions:
</p>
<ul>
<li>SQL Server 2016 SP3+GDR (RDS version 13.00.6470.1.v1)</li>
<li>SQL Server 2017 CU31+GDR (RDS version 14.00.3505.1.v1)</li>
<li>SQL Server 2019 CU32+GDR (RDS version 15.00.4445.1.v1)</li>
<li>SQL Server 2022 CU21 (RDS version 16.00.4215.2.v1)</li>
</ul>
<p>
The updates address security vulnerabilities including CVE-2025-47997, CVE-2025-55227, and CVE-2024-21907. AWS recommends upgrading RDS SQL Server instances through the RDS Management Console, AWS SDK, or CLI to apply these updates.
