Challenger Center modernizes STEM education infrastructure with AWS to reach hundreds of thousands students nationwide

Public Sector Blog

Challenger Center, a STEM education nonprofit, is modernizing its nationwide educational infrastructure using AWS services, supported by the AWS Imagine Grant program.

  • Previously used local servers with manual updates causing inconsistent software versions
  • Implementing AWS services like Amazon ECS Fargate, Amazon RDS PostgreSQL, and Amazon S3
  • Update times will decrease from 2-4 hours to just minutes (75-80% efficiency improvement)
  • Enables standardized software across centers, providing more accurate student impact data
  • Goal is to have half of their center network on AWS infrastructure by year-end

The modernization will help Challenger Center deliver consistent, high-quality STEM educational experiences to hundreds of thousands of students nationwide while reducing operational costs and improving program development.
