Empowering families in need: How Save the Children uses Amazon Bedrock to simplify access to social benefits

Public Sector Blog

Save the Children España (SCE) developed a web application using Amazon Bedrock to help families access social benefits and address the "non-take-up" problem in Spain, where 58% of eligible households don't apply for the Minimum Vital Income (IMV).

  • Provides a multilingual chat assistant to help families identify and apply for social benefits
  • Creates a centralized knowledge base of social program information
  • Allows users to get location-specific benefit recommendations
  • Uses Amazon Kendra and Bedrock to power intelligent, contextual responses
  • Supports both families and social workers in navigating benefit systems

The solution aims to reduce barriers to accessing social assistance and potentially inform policy advocacy efforts by making benefit information more accessible and user-friendly.
