The Model Context Protocol (MCP) Proxy for AWS is now generally available

AWS has announced the general availability of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Proxy, a client-side proxy that enables developers to connect to remote MCP servers using AWS SigV4 authentication.

  • Supports popular AI development tools like Amazon Q Developer CLI, Kiro, and Cursor
  • Allows connecting to MCP servers with AWS credentials
  • Enables interactions with AWS services like S3 and Amazon RDS
  • Includes safety controls such as read-only mode and configurable retry logic
  • Can be installed from source, Python package managers, or containers
  • Open-source and available on AWS GitHub repository

The MCP Proxy simplifies development workflows by providing a secure, flexible way to interact with AWS-hosted MCP servers and services.
