Amazon CloudWatch Composite Alarms adds threshold-based alerting

News

Amazon CloudWatch Composite Alarms now supports threshold-based alerting, enabling more flexible and intelligent alert triggering based on resource conditions.

  • Trigger alerts only when a specific number or percentage of resources meet alert conditions
  • Use AT_LEAST function to set thresholds (e.g., 2 out of 4 storage volumes, 50% of hosts)
  • Reduce alert fatigue by filtering out minor issues while catching significant problems
  • Supports both fixed numbers and percentages for flexible scaling
  • Available in all commercial AWS regions, GovCloud (US), and China regions

This enhancement helps IT operations teams focus on meaningful incidents by creating more intelligent alerting policies based on resource impact thresholds.
