Introducing agent-to-agent protocol support in Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime

Machine Learning Blog

Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime now supports Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol, enabling AI agents built with different frameworks to discover peers, share capabilities, and coordinate actions using standardized communication.

  • A2A protocol allows agents from different frameworks (Strands, OpenAI SDK, LangGraph, Google ADK, Claude SDK) to communicate seamlessly
  • Agents can discover capabilities via standardized agent cards and coordinate complex workflows across platforms
  • Multi-agent system example: monitoring agent (Strands) detects issues, operational agent (OpenAI) searches for solutions, host agent (Google ADK) orchestrates
  • Security features include OAuth 2.0 and AWS IAM authentication, VPC connectivity, and AWS PrivateLink support
  • Deployment includes automated scripts, CloudFormation templates, and React frontend for incident response workflows
  • Supports stateless HTTP servers, authenticated agent cards, lifecycle management, and cross-account AWS access

A2A protocol on AgentCore Runtime eliminates integration complexity for multi-agent systems, enabling organizations to build sophisticated agentic solutions with standardized interoperability across frameworks, models, and hosting infrastructure.
