This article announces expanded regional availability of AWS Graviton4-based R8g, R7g, and R7i database instances for Amazon Aurora and RDS across multiple AWS regions.

  • R8g instances now available in Asia Pacific (Hong Kong, Osaka, Jakarta, Seoul, Singapore) and Canada (Central)
  • R7i instances now supported in Asia Pacific (Hyderabad)
  • R7g instances now supported in Africa (Cape Town)
  • Graviton4 provides up to 40% performance improvement over Graviton3
  • Up to 29% better price/performance on on-demand pricing
  • New 24xlarge and 48xlarge sizes with up to 192 vCPUs
  • 8:1 memory-to-vCPU ratio with DDR5 memory
  • Up to 50Gbps enhanced networking and 40Gbps EBS bandwidth

AWS expands Graviton4 database instance availability globally, offering improved performance and cost efficiency for Aurora and RDS workloads.
