AWS HealthImaging announces study-level fine-grained access control

News

This article announces fine-grained access control for AWS HealthImaging, enabling secure management of medical imaging data at DICOM study and series levels.

  • Grant access to DICOM Studies or Series using IAM policies without listing individual image set ARNs
  • Use DICOMweb APIs with DICOM Study Instance UIDs and Series Instance UIDs directly in policies
  • Create dynamic, temporary access grants using AWS STS session policies with low-latency authentication
  • Scope access to specific Studies or Series rather than entire data stores for enhanced PHI protection
  • Supports use cases: pathologist case-level access, radiology study sharing, research data distribution
  • Available in US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Europe (Ireland), Europe (London)

AWS HealthImaging now provides granular access control for medical imaging workflows, improving security and simplifying permission management for healthcare organizations.
