AgentWatch: Proactive AWS monitoring with ambient agents

This article introduces AgentWatch, an ambient AI agent for proactive AWS infrastructure monitoring that replaces reactive CloudWatch alarm management with continuous intelligent oversight.

• AgentWatch monitors AWS resources every 15 minutes, summarizing CloudWatch metrics, logs, and alarms across multiple accounts
• Delivers automated monitoring reports to Slack and responds to natural language infrastructure queries on-demand
• Implements three human-in-the-loop patterns: notify (alerts without action), question (seeks clarification), review (requires approval)
• Built on Amazon Bedrock Claude model and deployed via Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime as serverless HTTP endpoints
• Architecture uses EventBridge scheduling, Lambda orchestration, and Cognito OAuth 2.0 authentication for security
• Reduces alert fatigue and operational overhead by automating routine monitoring while maintaining human control
• Extensible to cost optimization, security monitoring, compliance reporting, and performance analysis
