Building AI agents for business support using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore

This article describes how AWS GenAIIC collaborated with Works Human Intelligence (WHI) to build two AI agents using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore for HR system automation, achieving significant cost reductions and operational improvements.

• Commuting Allowance Agent automates approval of commuting allowance applications during employee relocations
• Browser Operation Agent accesses HR system, performs operations, and collects evidence on behalf of customers
• Migrated from LangGraph and ECS to AgentCore Runtime for improved scalability and multi-tenancy support
• Browser Operation Agent reduced costs by up to 97% through prompt caching and model optimization
• Implemented Strands Agents for flexible agent behavior with minimal implementation complexity
• Switched to AgentCore Observability, eliminating operational costs of self-hosted Langfuse monitoring

• Placed AgentCore Runtime in VPC with NAT gateway for secure IP-restricted access to HR system
