This article announces that Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Identity now supports bringing your own AWS Secrets Manager secrets, enabling enhanced governance and compliance controls.

  • Customers can reference existing AWS Secrets Manager secret ARNs in AgentCore Identity Credential Providers
  • Replaces previous service-managed secret approach with customer-managed secrets
  • Enables custom encryption keys, tagging, automatic rotation, and resource policies
  • Provides full ownership of secret creation, classification, and governance
  • Generally available in 14 AWS regions globally

This enhancement allows organizations with strict governance requirements to manage secrets according to their own compliance policies while using AgentCore Identity.
