This article announces new metadata capabilities for Amazon VPC Flow Logs, enhancing network monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • EC2 resource tags now embedded directly in flow logs for network interfaces, instances, and auto scaling groups
  • Next-hop metadata captures interface ID, subnet, Availability Zone, VPC, and interface type details
  • Eliminates manual correlation of flow logs with separate metadata sources
  • Simplifies traffic traversal understanding through NAT Gateways, NLBs, and Transit Gateways
  • Available across 30+ AWS regions globally

VPC Flow Logs now provides richer context for network traffic analysis without requiring manual data correlation across multiple sources.
