Amazon Aurora and RDS for MySQL expand Extended Support for MySQL 5.7 through June 2029

This article announces that Amazon Aurora MySQL-Compatible Edition and RDS for MySQL now offer Extended Support for MySQL 5.7 through June 30, 2029, extending the previous end date of February 28, 2027.
- Extended Support delivers critical and high CVE security patches and bug fixes for operational issues
- No price increase; customers continue paying Year 3 pricing through June 30, 2029
- Applies to Aurora MySQL version 2 and RDS for MySQL version 5.7
- AWS recommends upgrading to MySQL 8.0 or 8.4 using Blue/Green Deployments or in-place upgrades
- Available in all AWS Regions where Aurora MySQL and RDS for MySQL are offered
This extension gives customers additional time to plan and execute upgrades to supported MySQL versions while maintaining security and operational support.
