Amazon Redshift delivers faster performance for BI dashboards and real-time analytics
Big Data Blog
Amazon Redshift announces a new query compilation optimization that reduces startup overhead for low-latency SQL queries, enabling faster BI dashboards and real-time analytics.
- New optimization uses composition technique to execute queries immediately while compiling optimized code in background
- Reduces P50 compilation time from 4.3 seconds to 170 ms (25.7x improvement)
- First-time queries now start much faster with performance consistent with subsequent runs
- Automatically enabled for all Amazon Redshift users at no additional cost
- Delivers up to 8.3x better price-performance than competing data warehouses for short queries
- Works across all supported hardware types: RA3, RG provisioned clusters, and serverless workgroups
This enhancement improves query responsiveness for BI dashboards and interactive analytics without requiring configuration changes or query rewrites.
