This article explains how to use detailed performance statistics for Amazon EBS and EC2 Instance Store on Windows environments to monitor storage performance in real-time.
- Access sub-minute granularity metrics for latency, throughput, and IOPS directly from NVMe devices using nvme_amzn.exe tool
- Identify unresponsive EBS volumes by monitoring Total Read/Write Ops and Queue Length changes over time intervals
- Detect performance bottlenecks when workloads exceed provisioned IOPS or throughput limits on volumes or instances
