Amazon Cognito now supports importing users with password hashes
News
Amazon Cognito now supports importing users with password hashes in CSV user imports, eliminating the need for password resets on first sign-in.
- Specify password hashing algorithm (bcrypt, scrypt, Argon2id, PBKDF2 with SHA-256) when creating CSV imports
- Imported users can sign in immediately with existing credentials
- Password hashes receive additional cryptographic protection before storage
- Available in all AWS Regions where Amazon Cognito is available
- Access via AWS Management Console, CLI, or SDKs
This enhancement streamlines user migration by preserving existing password hashes and enabling seamless authentication for imported users.
