Amazon Bedrock AgentCore now delivers unified observability with traces and logs in a single log group

News

Amazon Bedrock AgentCore now delivers unified observability by consolidating agent traces, prompts, and logs into a single CloudWatch log group per agent.

  • Previously split telemetry across multiple log groups; traces went to shared aws/spans while logs went to resource-specific groups
  • New unified approach delivers all telemetry to single per-agent log group: /aws/bedrock-agentcore/runtimes/<agent_id>-<endpoint_name>
  • Enables correlation of traces and logs in one place for easier debugging
  • Allows fine-grained IAM policies and CMK encryption scoped to individual agents
  • New agents created July 20, 2026 onward use unified observability by default
  • Existing agents require setting UNIFIED_TRACES_DESTINATION_ENABLED=true and upgrading ADOT to version 0.17.1+
  • Available in all AWS commercial regions supporting AgentCore runtime

Unified observability simplifies agent debugging and enables better access control and encryption management for multi-agent systems.
