AWS Glue Data Quality now supports distribution statistics for data profiling

News

AWS Glue Data Quality now supports a new Distribution Analyzer that generates frequency distribution profiles for data profiling without custom code.

  • Create histograms for numeric columns and value distributions for categorical, date, and boolean columns
  • Customize bin counts to explore data patterns at desired granularity levels
  • Identify skewness, outliers, and unexpected patterns across datasets
  • Integrates with existing DQDL rulesets for combined data quality checks in single evaluation
  • Distribution statistics stored in Amazon S3 and queryable via Amazon Athena
  • Accessible through APIs for integration with monitoring workflows and visualization tools like SageMaker Unified Studio
  • Available in all AWS commercial regions and AWS GovCloud (US) regions

Distribution statistics help build reliable data pipelines by revealing data shape and patterns without requiring custom code development.
