AWS announces general availability of Policy-Based Routing on AWS Transit Gateway, enabling granular traffic control based on packet attributes beyond destination IP alone.
- Forwarding decisions based on source/destination IP, ports, protocol, and other packet attributes
- Eliminates need for complex multi-VPC architectures with additional routing hops
- Associate policy tables with Transit Gateway attachments and define ordered classification rules
- Supports traffic steering through firewalls, workload isolation, and environment separation
- Available in all commercial AWS Regions where Transit Gateway operates
- Configurable via AWS Console, CLI, and SDK with no additional charges
Policy-Based Routing simplifies network traffic management and security for enterprise customers without requiring additional infrastructure.
