Announcing response streaming for .NET on AWS Lambda
Developer Tools Blog
This article announces response streaming support for .NET Lambda functions, allowing functions to send data incrementally rather than buffering entire responses.
- Stream tokens from LLM/AI models as they are generated in real-time
- Send large data exports like CSV or JSON without buffering full datasets
- Increase max response size from 6 MB to 200 MB (10 MB with API Gateway)
- Use LambdaResponseStreamFactory.CreateStream() to get writable System.IO.Stream
- Invoke with InvokeWithResponseStream API from AWSSDK.Lambda package
- Works with API Gateway REST API using /response-streaming-invocations path
- Integrates with ASP.NET Core via Amazon.Lambda.AspNetCoreServer.Hosting
- Compatible with Microsoft.Extensions.AI for Bedrock model streaming
Response streaming enables more responsive .NET Lambda functions for AI workloads and large data transfers by eliminating buffering delays.
