[Preview Announcement] Re-introducing Forward Proxy as AWS Network Firewall Functionality

News

AWS re-introduces explicit forward proxy as a Network Firewall functionality, allowing unified security controls across proxy and transparent firewall modes.

  • Network Firewall proxy now maintains feature parity with transparent firewall capabilities
  • Single security policy can be used for both explicit proxy and transparent firewall deployments
  • Supports all existing features: managed rule groups, active threat defense, Geo-IP filtering, URL/domain filtering, container attribute-based rules
  • Available in no-source-preservation deployment mode for centralized data exfiltration and malware injection controls
  • Public preview available in US East (Ohio) region at no cost

This unified approach simplifies security policy management while providing comprehensive filtering capabilities for both proxy and firewall deployments.
