Use AWS DevOps Agent to triage and route AWS Health event impact
AWS Cloud Operations Blog
This article describes an event-driven solution using AWS DevOps Agent to automatically triage AWS Health events and route impact notifications to the appropriate teams.
- EventBridge captures Health events and triggers a Step Functions workflow orchestrating the investigation process
- Custom skill teaches the agent to assess impact by cross-referencing affected resources against discovered topology
- Agent identifies redundancy, assigns severity, and determines owning teams from resource tags
- Confirmed-impact findings create OpsItems in AWS Systems Manager and route notifications via SNS, Slack, or Microsoft Teams
- Solution uses serverless, on-demand pricing with no charges while idle
- Deployment via setup wizard takes approximately 20 minutes
- Reduces manual triage time from 15-30 minutes per event to 2-10 minutes automatically
The solution eliminates alert noise by notifying teams only on confirmed impact, enabling faster response to critical AWS Health events.
