AWS announces the general availability of a new AWS Local Zone in Las Vegas, Nevada, extending core AWS services closer to the metropolitan area.
- Supports EC2 C7i, M7i, R7i, and C8gn instances with EBS volume types gp3, gp2, io1, sc1, and st1
- Includes ECS, EKS, Application Load Balancer, and AWS Direct Connect services
- Delivers single-digit millisecond latency for end-user workloads
- Meets data residency requirements and supports AI/ML inference workloads
- Maintains consistent AWS APIs, tools, and services as AWS Regions
- Enable via AWS Global View Regions and Zones tab or ModifyAvailabilityZoneGroup API
The Las Vegas Local Zone joins 30+ metropolitan areas worldwide with AWS Local Zone infrastructure for improved performance and compliance.
