Integrate Amazon Redshift and IAM Identity Center with enhanced VPC routing

Big Data Blog

This article explains how to integrate Amazon Redshift with AWS IAM Identity Center using enhanced VPC routing to enable secure single sign-on with private network authentication.

  • Enable enhanced VPC routing on Redshift clusters (patch 204+) to route all traffic through your VPC
  • Create interface VPC endpoints for sso-oauth and identitystore services for private authentication
  • Optionally create endpoints for AWS Glue and Lake Formation to keep data catalog traffic private
  • Create an S3 gateway endpoint for COPY, UNLOAD, and S3 Tables operations
  • Test single sign-on through Query Editor V2 and SQL clients using the JDBC driver
  • Verify authentication calls in CloudTrail showing vpcEndpointId confirming private routing

This solution enables organizations to meet data residency and network isolation requirements while providing seamless corporate credential authentication for Redshift users.
