Certification updates from AWS Training and Certification: September 2026

AWS is updating three major certification exams to reflect how cloud roles have evolved to include generative AI, agentic AI, and modern development practices.

• AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer – Associate (MLA-C02): Beta registration open; adds generative AI, foundation models, LLMs, and agentic AI workflows; GA January 14, 2027
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (SAP-C03): Registration opens October 27, 2026; adds GenAI/agentic AI architectures, resilience engineering, cloud-native patterns, and post-quantum cryptography; GA November 17, 2026
• AWS Certified Developer – Associate (DVA-C03): Registration opens October 27, 2026; adds AI-assisted development tools, AI security, and container management; GA December 1, 2026
• All exams retain core competencies while expanding to validate modern AI-integrated skills across ML, architecture, and development domains
