AWS announces the public preview of Amazon Linux 2027 (AL2027), the next version of Amazon Linux designed for cloud-native workloads with enhanced performance, scale, and security.
- Built on AL2023 baseline with kernel 7.1+, SELinux enforcing mode enabled by default
- Accelerates cryptographic performance using AWS-LC library
- Includes latest toolchains, language runtimes, and AI/ML accelerator drivers including AWS Neuron support
- Preview AMIs available across all commercial AWS Regions in x86-64 and ARM variants
- Container base images available on Amazon ECR Public Gallery
- Feedback can be submitted via AL2027 GitHub repository
AL2027 provides customers a secure, stable AWS-native OS for web applications, databases, microservices, and large-scale infrastructure before general availability.
