AWS CloudFormation now supports contract tests v2, providing enhanced testing capabilities for resource type implementations through the cfn test --v2 command.
- Live-state verification confirms actual resource state matches requested state after CRUD operations
- Schema backward-compatibility checks ensure resource type compatibility
- Test input linting flags hardcoded Regions, account IDs, and partitions
- Detailed HTML and JUnit XML reports for local contract test execution
- Java-based resource types can run tests locally with Docker and built handler package
- All new resource types can run contract tests v2 through test-type API during registry submission
