The new AgentCore Runtime is now available in Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
News
This article announces the availability of the next-generation AgentCore Runtime, a serverless microVM compute service within Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.
- Elastic memory management reclaims unused memory during sessions, reducing costs by charging for actual usage instead of peak allocation
- Consistent cold start times of 1.9-2.0 seconds (P75) regardless of container image size, compared to 5.4-30 seconds with V1
- Maintains serverless benefits: no pre-provisioning, scale to zero, hardware-enforced isolation, and pay-per-use pricing
- Memory allocated on-demand as workloads require it, with unused memory automatically reclaimed
- Available in us-east-1, us-east-2, us-west-2, eu-west-1, and ap-northeast-1 regions
- Enable by setting platformVersion to V2 when creating or updating a runtime
The new AgentCore Runtime V2 delivers significant performance improvements and cost savings for serverless agent workloads on Amazon Bedrock.
