This article announces the general availability of Amazon Route 53 Resolver on second-generation AWS Outposts, enabling local managed DNS resolution directly on Outposts.
- DNS queries resolved locally on Outposts, reducing latency and eliminating Service Link traversal
- Maintains cached DNS records during Service Link disconnections for continuous resolution
- Runs on AWS-managed infrastructure built into second-generation Outposts without requiring customer compute
- Enabled by default on multi-rack second-generation Outposts with opt-out capability
- Available in all AWS Regions supporting second-generation Outposts
- 91-day free trial through December 21, 2026; $0.65 per Outpost rack per hour thereafter
