AWS Billing and Cost Management now provides billing context for your account through a new API

AWS Billing and Cost Management now offers the ListBillingViewSegments API, which returns billing context for your account over a specified time period.

• Retrieve account positioning in billing hierarchy (management, member, or billing group primary accounts)
• Identify which accounts manage billing relationships and their rate settings
• Returns billing context only, not cost and usage data
• Divides requested periods into time segments with effective date ranges for mid-period changes
• Available in all commercial AWS Regions at no additional charge
• Callable directly or through an AI agent

The API enables better visibility into billing hierarchy changes and account relationships without additional costs.
