AWS Lambda recursive loop detection now supports Amazon EventBridge Custom event buses

News

AWS Lambda recursive loop detection now automatically detects and stops recursive loops between Lambda Event Functions and Amazon EventBridge Custom event buses.

  • Enabled by default on all AWS accounts with no configuration required
  • Prevents runaway workloads and unexpected charges from misconfigured EventBridge rules
  • Available in every commercial AWS Region where EventBridge Custom buses operate
  • Sends AWS Health Dashboard notifications with troubleshooting instructions when loops are detected
  • Can be disabled per-function using PutFunctionRecursionConfig API for intentional recursive loops

This feature protects against unintended recursive invocations between Lambda and EventBridge Custom event buses automatically.
