AWS CloudFormation now simplifies stack update rollback operations
News
AWS CloudFormation now simplifies stack update rollback operations with a new force rollback feature that completes rollbacks in a single operation.
- Force rollback returns stacks to a known good state when resources cannot roll back automatically
- Works across AWS CLI, SDKs, AWS CDK, and AI agents
- Eliminates need to identify, list, and retry operations for each affected resource
- Records resources requiring attention for review before next deployment
- Use continue update rollback with force rollback option, then create drift-aware change sets
- Available in all Regions at no additional cost
Force rollback streamlines CloudFormation stack recovery by automating the rollback process and returning stacks to a deployable state efficiently.
