Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports September 2026 Monthly Recommended Patch

Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports the September 2026 Monthly Recommended Patch (MRP) for Oracle Database versions 19c and 26ai, bringing the latest security updates and timezone changes.

  • September 2026 MRP builds on July 2026 RU and includes Oracle's Critical Security Patch Update (CSPU)
  • Updated Oracle time zone file (DST version 46) reflects daylight saving time changes in Canada, Morocco, and Western Sahara
  • New timezone rules effective November 1, 2026 for British Columbia and Alberta; September 20, 2026 for Morocco and Western Sahara
  • Apply to new instances or upgrade existing instances via RDS Management Console, AWS SDK, or CLI
  • Engine versions: 19.0.0.0.ru-2026-07.mrp-2026-09.r2 or 26.0.0.0.ru-2026-07.mrp-2026-09.r2

AWS recommends upgrading to the September 2026 MRP to ensure databases have the latest security patches and accurate timezone data.
