Recommended resilience testing in the next generation of AWS Resilience Hub

Architecture Blog

This article announces recommended resilience testing in the next generation of AWS Resilience Hub, a capability that automatically creates and runs fault injection experiments to validate application resilience.

  • Four pre-configured tests: Availability Zone recovery, dependency validation, Multi-Region isolation, and Multi-Region recovery
  • Automatically generates AWS FIS experiments based on service architecture, dependencies, and resilience policy
  • Dependency validation test identifies soft vs. hard dependencies and validates graceful degradation
  • Tests produce pass/fail outcomes evaluated against success criteria and recovery time objectives (RTO)
  • Auto-generates reports with test configuration, alarm status, timeline, and results
  • Supports EC2, ECS, and EKS compute environments with automatic fault action adaptation

Eliminates manual experiment design by providing out-of-the-box resilience testing with built-in success evaluation based on your resilience policy.
