Amazon Redshift announces automated cross-region snapshot copy, enabling hands-off backups of provisioned clusters and serverless workgroups to destination regions.
- Automatically copies the most recent snapshot continuously and incrementally with no manual intervention
- Eliminates need to wait for next scheduled snapshot; uses most recent available snapshot
- Provides business continuity options by backing up to chosen destination region(s)
- Configure retention period for automated snapshots in destination region; user snapshots retained until deleted
- Restore snapshots to new provisioned cluster or serverless workgroup in destination region
- Available in all AWS Commercial and GovCloud (US) regions
