AWS DMS now supports homogeneous migrations via CLI, SDK and API

News

The article announces the general availability of support for homogeneous data migrations using the AWS CLI, SDK, and API in AWS Database Migration Service (DMS). This allows programmatic migration or replication of self-managed MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or MongoDB databases from on-premises or Amazon EC2 sources to equivalent targets on Amazon RDS, Aurora, or DocumentDB.

Specifically, the article covers:

  • Homogeneous data migrations enable easy, performant, like-to-like migrations with minimal downtime and zero data loss
  • Using the AWS API, CLI, or SDK, you can initiate fully automated migrations or replications, including all data types, secondary objects, and partitions
  • The feature is serverless, so no need to manage replication instances
  • It lists the AWS regions where homogeneous data migrations are available
  • Provides a link to learn more about AWS DMS homogeneous data migrations
