Amazon ECS now allows you to configure software version consistency
News
Amazon ECS has introduced a new feature that allows users to configure software version consistency for specific containers within their ECS services.
- By default, ECS resolves container image tags to image digests to ensure task consistency
- Now, users can disable version consistency for specific containers (e.g., telemetry sidecars)
- This is done by configuring the new versionConsistency attribute in the container definition
- Changes are applied when redeploying the ECS service with a new task definition revision
- Available for Fargate platform version 1.4.0+ and ECS Agent v1.70.0+ in commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) regions
The new feature provides more flexibility in managing container image versioning within ECS services, allowing for more nuanced deployment strategies.
