Amazon ECS adds support for updating capacity provider configuration for ECS services
News
Amazon ECS has introduced a new feature that allows users to update capacity providers for existing ECS services without recreating the entire service.
- Customers can now modify compute configurations programmatically via UpdateService API or AWS Management Console
- Previously, changing compute configuration required recreating the entire service, which could cause disruption
- Users can now seamlessly switch between compute options like EC2 and Fargate without operational overhead
- The update capability is available across all AWS Regions through console, API, SDK, CLI, and CloudFormation
This enhancement simplifies service management by allowing flexible and seamless updates to underlying compute infrastructure with minimal disruption.
