Amazon Aurora Serverless v2 supports scaling to zero capacity
News
Amazon Aurora Serverless v2 now supports scaling to zero Aurora Capacity Units (ACUs), enabling automatic database pausing during inactivity and cost savings.
- Database can automatically pause and resume based on connection requests
- Scales from 0 to specified maximum ACUs to meet application demand
- Each ACU represents approximately 2 GiB of memory with corresponding CPU and networking
- Supported for Aurora PostgreSQL 13.15+, 14.12+, 15.7+, 16.3+ and Aurora MySQL 3.08+
- Can be configured for new or existing clusters with minimal setup
This feature allows customers to optimize database costs by reducing capacity to zero during periods of low or no activity.
