MultiCloud cost visibility with Amazon QuickSight and FOCUS

Microsoft Workloads on AWS Blog

AWS has introduced a new solution for multi-cloud cost visibility using Amazon QuickSight and the FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification (FOCUS), addressing challenges in tracking costs across different cloud providers.

  • Previously, customers struggled to consolidate cost information from multiple cloud providers
  • AWS introduced Data Exports for FOCUS 1.0, a new open-source standard for cloud billing data
  • The solution enables a unified dashboard for AWS and Azure cloud costs
  • Key features include:
    • Separate data storage for AWS and Azure
    • Athena views for detailed and long-term cost analysis
    • Support for multiple dashboard installations in a single AWS account
  • Deployment can be done using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Estimated processing cost is under $100 per month for 2GB of daily data

The solution provides a scalable approach to multi-cloud cost management, making it easier for businesses to track and optimize their cloud spending across different providers.
