Run high-availability long-running clusters with Amazon EMR instance fleets
Big Data Blog
AWS has announced high availability support for Amazon EMR on EC2 clusters using instance fleet configuration, providing enhanced resiliency and fault tolerance for long-running big data workloads.
- High availability removes single points of failure by introducing redundant standby nodes
- Supports three primary nodes that can seamlessly failover if one goes down
- Supports applications like Apache Spark, Presto, Trino, and Apache Flink
- Can be configured via AWS EMR console or CloudFormation
- Provides flexible instance provisioning with up to five EC2 instance types
Key benefits include improved cluster availability, automated capacity management, and the ability to handle instance failures without disrupting cluster operations. Recommended for mission-critical, long-running big data processing workloads.
