- Provides more flexibility in controlling cluster performance and resource utilization
- Addresses limitations of default scaling algorithm for short-duration tasks
- Allows customers to configure scaling behavior based on workload type
- Supports intelligent node addition and removal
- Available with Amazon EMR release 7.0 and later
Advanced Scaling enables users to set ScalingStrategy and UtilizationPerformanceIndex parameters to optimize cluster compute resources more precisely, particularly for cost-sensitive workloads.
