Amazon Application Recovery Controller zonal shift and zonal autoshift support Application Load Balancers

News

Amazon Application Recovery Controller (ARC) has expanded its zonal shift and zonal autoshift capabilities to support Application Load Balancers (ALB) with cross-zone configuration.

  • Helps quickly recover unhealthy applications in an Availability Zone (AZ)
  • Reduces impact from events like power outages and hardware/software failures
  • Automatically shifts traffic away from an AZ with potential failures
  • Blocks traffic to targets in an impaired AZ and removes zonal IP from DNS
  • Requires enabling ALBs for zonal shift via console or API

The feature is now available in all commercial AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, with no additional charges for use.
