Amazon FSx for Lustre increases throughput to GPU instances by up to 15x

AWS has announced enhanced performance for Amazon FSx for Lustre with support for Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) and NVIDIA GPUDirect Storage (GDS), dramatically improving storage performance for high-performance computing and machine learning workloads.

  • Increases per-client throughput up to 15 times (up to 1500 Gbps)
  • Supports advanced compute instances like P5, Trn1, and Hpc7a
  • Enables direct data transfer between file systems and GPU memory
  • Bypasses traditional TCP networking limitations
  • Available in all AWS regions with no additional cost

This enhancement allows organizations to fully utilize network bandwidth for demanding workloads such as deep learning, drug discovery, and financial modeling by providing unprecedented storage performance.
