Amazon FSx for Lustre now supports Elastic Fabric Adapter and NVIDIA GPUDirect Storage

Amazon FSx for Lustre has enhanced its file storage service by introducing support for Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) and NVIDIA GPUDirect Storage (GDS), significantly improving performance for GPU and high-performance computing workloads.

  • Delivers up to 12x higher throughput per client instance (1200 Gbps)
  • EFA improves network throughput by using AWS Scalable Reliable Datagram protocol
  • GPUDirect Storage enables direct data transfer between file system and GPU memory
  • Eliminates memory copies and reduces CPU involvement in data transfers
  • Supports P5 GPU instances and NVIDIA CUDA applications
  • Available at no additional cost in commercial AWS Regions

These improvements enable faster machine learning training jobs and more efficient high-performance computing workloads in the cloud.
